Mould contamination in the home can contribute to breathing difficulties, allergic reactions, worsening asthma symptoms, headaches and persistent fatigue. Ministry of Mould provides a specialist range of home mould test kits designed to help you identify mould on surfaces or in the air, as well as post‑remediation verification testing systems to confirm that cleaning or remediation work has been successful.

Our kits include surface sampling tests, home air sampling kits and DNA‑based swab tests for precise identification. For properties that have undergone mould removal, our post‑remediation verification kits offer clear, evidence‑based confirmation that the environment is safe and compliant.

As Dewpoint Corporate members, we uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics and integrity in everything we do. If you need guidance choosing the right test kit or want advice on interpreting results, you’re welcome to get in touch.

Would 100% recommend this company

Working in an old building comes with its challenges, and as an art gallery we started to notice black mould appearing in our building. This poses a massive threat to not only the artwork that we have in the gallery, but also to our archive, our library and our staff's health too! We approached Ministry of Mould to help us get rid of the problem and from the start, the team were positive and helped us understand the process and how the treatment works, as we were concerned about the various materials in the archive and how the chemicals might impact them. Thankfully with such a non-invasive process, our entire building was able to be fogged and treated in just a day, with incredible results. A comprehensive report showing the before and after results, as well as Tom's advice in recommending key items that will help with ongoing air quality in the building, meant that we're now able to focus on our business without worrying about any of these issues. A lot of other specialists that we spoke to provided hyper-inflated costs, or were hesitant to commit owing to the scale and specificity of our building and work, Ministry of Mould were solutions-oriented right from the start and have made a huge impact on our organisation, making it a much safer place to work, and a much more secure environment for artwork too. Would 100% recommend getting in touch with the team if you're experiencing similar issues. Straight forward and helpful

We contacted Ministry of Mould and they were pleasant and helpful. Came round at short notice to treat two large patches of mould in the bedrooms. Overall they did a great job at treating these and were thorough in the assessment as to the cause, doing a full thermal study to reveal issues with insulation in the house. The prevention recommendations were really straight forward and helpful. We contacted Ministry of Mould and they were pleasant and helpful. Indoor air quality is the missing piece of the wellness puzzle

The quality of the indoor air we breathe has a direct impact on our health, well-being and productivity.

Most people spend 80 - 90% of their time indoors so managing indoor air quality is crucial for our health. Sadly, this is often the last place people think to look when improving their wellness.

FAQ

Is mould bad for my health?

While small areas of mould on tile grout are unlikely to cause any harm, large outbreaks on walls and ceilings are proven to cause harm to humans. The NHS states “…if you have damp and mould in your home you’re more likely to have respiratory problems, respiratory infectionsallergies or asthma. Damp and mould can also affect the immune system.”

On a personal note the owner of Ministry of Mould’s young children were both hopsitalised with bronchiolitis due to mould growth in their home. This was before he knew the dangers of mould and a large motivation for setting up a mould remediation company.

I'm renting my home - help!

Currently in the UK the law is undergoing significant changes to force landlords to take reasonable steps to prevent damp and mould in a property.

We are able to provide to non-invasive surveys and mould testing for tenants. Unfortunately, we cannot carry out mould remediation without your landlords permission, regardless of who pays.

As a tenant you are responsible for doing your part to prevent mould. There is no set rule on who should pay and the best advice is to have a sensible discussion with your landlord. If your landlord is not sure how to solve the issues then ask them to contact us and we will carry out a survey.

The Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act puts duties onto the landlord in respect of damp and mould.

The housing ombudsman has released several key papers which explain that the tenants should no longer be told that the mould is down to lifestyle.

Where do you cover?

We do not offer any site visits or surveys.

What causes mould?

There are many causes of mould but the main driver is the presence of moisture, humidity and dampness in a building.

In the UK, particularly the South West and Wales, we have very wet weather with long periods of cold and humid weather. These conditions can lead to mould growing on walls, windows, ceiling and hidden places throughout a house.

As part of any mould removal we inspect the property for any issues which may be causing mould and can provide recommendations for work required.

How much does mould removal cost?

We DO NOT offer mould removal.
